Hey all, I've had my centerdeck G3 for about a two years now, but am just now starting to ramp up my time on the water. My uncle gave it to me (originating in Oregon and car trailered to Arizona) but I am learning that there is no such thing as a free boat. HIN (found on the aluminum trim at the base of the center column of the center deck) is 13XW1089, telling me it's the 89th boat built in '61 and it came out of Washington. Please correct if I'm wrong. I just repaired the transom. It had a crack (an wood rot) at the bottom. I removed the rot and 'welded' the good wood to the keel and stringers via cutting out the inner deck under the splash well. I took it out yesterday and it was 100% dry. I'm looking for a Merc 700 FGS. Please let me know if you see or hear of one. It has an aluminum transom plate sandwiched up and over the transom, taking it up to 19". I'm thinking I might be able to get away with a shortie on a CMC. Thoughts? Here are a few shots of the boat followed a few more of my views on Arizona and Utah waters. Boy howdy, I had an interesting adventure yesterday. I headed out to the lake late in the day as usual. Well, it's monsoon season down here and they usually hit in the afternoon. You can see where this is going. It was beautiful when I launched, but within 30 minutes the sky was closing in. I could see lightning in the distance but I decided to play it out a bit longer. I headed up canyon with the idea I was going to go about 5 miles or so. When a bolt of lightning cracked a few miles ahead, I turned around quickly and ran. By the way, my g3 runs much better than I thought it would across rough water. I was with a photographer friend (who is also a very seasoned boater on our lakes) and we kept seeing great shots and light. We also thought that everyone else was running for the launch and it would be less busy if we waited a bit. We ended up taking cover in a cove, trying to wait it out a bit, but that is when all hell broke loose and the sky opened up along with the wind. We raced for the launch hiding behind the windshield but still getting drenched. The dock was super busy, but I squeezed in so my pal could grab the Jeep and trailer. After that it was a madhouse with everyone trying to trailer, wave runners doing what they do getting in everyone's way. I just kept moving in circles trying to avoid getting swamped. It seemed like forever waiting for the trailer, but as soon as I saw him swing around (and I could barely see because of the heavy rain), I saw the opening on the launch and headed for it before he even was in it. We arrived at the same place at the same time and the boat was on the trailer before he even had it in park. It was a great feeling when he ran out and clipped me to the wench. Attachment Deleted
