Wish I could be there Nut! Finally found a guy to work on my G3 up in Red Bluff. Hopefully it will be running in a couple of weeks. In the meantime, a 1960 Marathon, red deck with white hull followed me home. I think the 75 hp Starflite on it may find its way onto the transom of the G3, after I get it running! Have a great time at Shasta!

NUT! Where's the photos? Any good stories? yes! GOOD stories!! Tried to share earlier, but laptop was finicky then completely died and wouldn't even turn on, so had to but a new one! Expensive week- new boat! new laptop, vacation, etc.... As I was trying to tell Walt when my dumb puter died, a new Sport Lido ummm..." followed me home", and after a successful maiden voyage at the local lake, I couldn't decide to take the G3 or the Lido to Shasta, so put it up to vote on the GSG Facebook page. The Lido won! It was weird... the first time ever NUT did not have the fastest boat at the meet, and to add insult to injury, Nut was running a WIMPY SUZUKI instead of a MIGHTY JOHNSON!!!! Has the whole world gone MAD? ? Grudgingly admit the ol ZUKI ran flawlessly all 4 days and indicated about 30 mph, screaming along at full throttle! I feel she could use a bit more pitch prop, and also the motor is mounted too low, so there is more spunk to be had, but for now just gonna run it till it blows up. I have a short shaft EVINRUDE just waiting to be called to duty!!! Ya missed a really fun meet, Walt (and DEAN!) ! The weather was perfect (no RAIN!) the lake is FULL, and the usual gang of glassheads are the best!! Everyone was AMAZED and impressed with the original condition of my new Lido!!!! I'll try and post up a few pics..... enjoy! NUT

Nut, the last time I saw a Sport Lido that nice was 1965! Wait a minute, I don't think it was quite as nice as yours! That is one beautiful boat! Thanks, Walt!!! it is definitely in amazing shape- all original right down to the upholstery! the rear bench seat has come apart at the seam, but the vinyl is still good, so hoping I can find someone to just repair it with a quick stitch. The gelcote and structural wood are like new- no cracks or crazing ANYWHERE! Not a fan of the SUZUKI motor, but hey it runs, so why touch it? HA! Anyway, the only thing it was missing were the original decals on the sides, but there was still a shadow of the originals in the gelcote, so I could position my reproductions in the exact same spot the GLASSPAR GODS had originally intended them to be in!! They make the boat POP, and are the icing on the cake! ALL boat "restorations" should be this easy- polish, wax, and apply decals! DONE! HA! Now, lets see your new MARATHON!!!!! NUT

Apples are fruit. I think you wanted to say "The acorn doesn't fall far from the oak tree". You being the "NUT" and all.
