Got a call Friday from my guy that has allowed me to store my 1st G3 in his front yard for about 10 years now, saying he wants it gone. I had offered it to give it away for free including the trailer, but sadly, no takers. So today, with a heavy heart, I took her to the now familiar to me, Glasspar graveyard. Saddens me to say that this is the THIRD Glasspar in my fleet that has gone to heaven this year. 2 Lidos, and now, a center deck G3.....so ashamed, but I knew this day would come someday. This G3 was my first "born", and, just like Lido #1, spent many hours and dollars replacing the stringers, floors and transom. Structurally it was done, but again just like Lido#1, still needed complete cosmetic restoration ($$$$$$$), and that's when I found my current G3, which was in amazing shape- only needed a little transom work to take the awesome firepower of the mighty V4 JOHNSON. Yes, feeling a bit sentimental, cause I held on to it for all these years thinking, maybe someday, it would be a cool Father/Son project that we could bring back, together, to her former glory. Now my "kid" is 23 years old, and I now realize that father/son projects are never gonna happen. Not to even mention the outrageous costs of the materials needed to restore a boat these days.... too bad, the trailer was in nice shape.. NUT

A sad day indeed. Actually makes me tear up too! Same story. I have a 1967 G3 (my first) with a new floor in it, and an 8" or 9" by 1/8" gash in the hull. Got the 40 hp Evinrude running. Got the new seats. Still sitting in my backyard. Of course, I could not control my excitement when the other G3 turned up in excellent condition, so I bought her too. And I could not believe my luck when I found a second owner 1960 Marathon (needs stringers, floor and transom). And then there's the 1967 Tacoma... Hey "Nut," we need bigger places, maybe an acre or two. Maybe we could start our own "Moth-ball Fleet!"

Walt it is called O.G.P.R. and is a diagnosable disease. The Formal name is Old Glasspar Pack Rat syndrome. For many of us there is no cure.
