Wow, I have been gone quite a while. This site continues to grow and the ever strong members who have stayed true have really impressed me. New members are getting helped by senior g3 owners. This is what it is about. When the first site was developed by Karl and Chris, this was their plan for g3 owners to fellowship and be there to help other owners over the distances that separate us.
Karl went to work overseas and our site was placed in the care of Fiberglassics where our crew grew in size. We still have a forum over there and still remain a relationship with Fiberglassics.
Dean suggested we needed our site to become once again what it was in the beginning. In response Karl, Chris, Keith, Vernon, Ric, Bob, Ken, and others from the original crew all offered to Dean what they had and the result was the new g3owners.com.
Dean has put a lot of work into this site. I am so glad to see it's growth.
Thank you All
Al

I REALLY appreciate what you and Dean have done here trying to keep the G3 board alive, but honestly, I am not seeing the level of participation lately that I would like to see. In fact, I have NEVER seen even one post from Chris OR Karl, Vernon, Brian, J.C., Wehunt, or my all time favorite, Jim Savage. Seems the new kids on the block fade away too! What happened to Peyton? thought it was just "waiting on DMV papers" and the rattlebox was going to roar to life, but all I hear is .....CRICKETS! In fact, where has DEAN gone to? How about the good Dr. Frankenmerc??? hummm....lets see, now...is there a common thread? YES the ONE thing all these people have in common is....... MERCURY!!!! Could it be.... that none of them even RUN anymore??? I miss the good ol days of spreading the MIGHTY OMC gospel through the land of kookyhuffers, but seems the KOOKS have turned them all into mailboxes these days...... ?? sigh.....

That was well said Nut and what it takes to wake some of us up. Well let say this I now have all my ducks in a row and now I am legal for the water and I WILL get in the water this season even if I have to break the ice. I just thought I would give enough time for all those fool to get those OMCs out of the water so I don't to have to spend so much time cleaning my carburators.

Good post Al! Good to see you back here.
I also want to sincerely thank Dean for all he has done for us with this website! He did a "top notch" job and in my opinion it is now the best site for our Glasspar G-3 Skiboats. I am still a member over on Fiberglassics but the G-3 section there has almost no activity anymore.
Bill, you and I have had some "heated" conversations about Johnson vs Mercury on the old website and out of respect to Dean I won't go into that here. BUT,....just so you know, both my 2009 Mercury 50 on our G-3 and the 2010 Mercury 90 on our Seafair Sedan are still running GREAT! Like many other of the members here, I need to post more and will try to do that from this point on.
Al,...again,....good post and welcome back.

I'm still here! And my Mercs are all running like tops! ...Sorry to say NUT Its been a tough couple of years on this end, building a cabin, a fence, a yard, a dock, and remodeled a trashed condo rental so I can sell it. NOW, all this silly non-boating work is done, and its time to finally start playing with propellers again. When I launched my new dock's float... I used it as a work barge to install the dock over the water... MERCURY powered no less: Attachment Deleted

I was beginning to worry that you had depleted Doc Frankenmercs spare parts supply keeping your collection of rattleboxes going. Now I see why you have not had any time to check in here- that wimpy little murk probably took 10X the time to move your dock than an OMC would have. Suggest next time you use something with some....TORQUE!!!! life is too short to putter around in a slow boat, my friend.... hehehe! NUT

Hey Nut, next time I am over in Santa Rosa calling on the Nissan dealer I need to call you and we can hook up for lunch! Are you as funny in real life as you are on this site?! I laugh every time I read your posts! Anyway, took my '60 out on it's maiden voyage a month or two back and the '61 Johnny 40 hp would only get it up to about 10 mph . Had the guy up in Red Bluff look at it again and it was a simple adjustment of some type of rod under the hood. He said it should do a lot better now . Working on getting the floor done on my '60 Marathon. Gotta get that '67 G3 up and running this year too! So many boats, so little time! Thanks for the humor Nut- that and the great information about Glasspar G3's really make this a fun site!

Thanks for the humor Nut- that and the great information about Glasspar G3's really make this a fun site! ooooo, Walt- I LIKE lunch! I work just across the way from the Santa Rosa NISSAN dealer, too!!! About my posts, though.... some people, no names mentioned, find my posts out of line and disrespectful. Being a grossly outnumbered, STRICTLY OMC guy, I have a long history here and on the old forum of stirring the hornet nest of KOOKYHUFFER lovers, and thus, have earned a bad reputation from some that have no sense of humor. Too bad you were not around in the days of the old forum- me and Jim Savage used to go at it regularly, all in good fun, until some new KOOK with a bad attitude came on, read my "offensive" posts and tried to ban me. However, the support for me, and my posts, from the G3 community- even those that like their rattleboxes (ugh!), was far greater than the support for the new guy, and towards the end, it got quite nasty. In fact, that unnamed guy is the one that ended up getting banned on other sites for HIS attitude!!! HA! Instant KARMA,for him! Thank you for seeing the difference between humor and true hate! Some just don't get it and never will..... OK, now about your BOATs.....we need an update since the Red Bluff guy adjusted the rod on your Sea Horse 40- did you take it out again after he set the linkage??? its faster than a "BANDIT" now, right? Good to hear you are getting the floor glued in on the Marathon, but I am wondering about.... the stringers- not sure, but assume the stringers on the 60 Marathon were wood like the G3? If so, are they ok? hate to see ya do all that work and have to RE-DO it all by taking a "shortcut" on the stringers. Of course, the transom is solid too, right? We also need a status update on your 67!!!! At least that one wont have wood stringers, so should, in theory, be the first to hit the water? Ok, and now my bombshell..... POST UP PICTURES OF YOUR COOL PROJECTS!!!!!!!!!! Start a new thread if you have to, and download "IRFANVIEW" to resize them if necessary, but project pictures are what keep us going through the dead of winter!!!! Since my "fleet" is currently completely operational, I am gonna miss out on the fun of sanding fiberglass this winter, but would enjoy seeing you elbows deep in the angel dust.....hehehe! NUT

Hey NUT, I must admit, my Murky Merc does need some work! Loved Tesla but found myself at a company called navatekltd.com/ . We do everything from computational fluid dynamics to hull design and ultra-heavy amphibious tank transporters. Still working on my electric outboards in my free time...will eventually have an electric G3 to show that even electricity can fly past that ole Jonny-rude!!!

Checked out your link-DAMN, Ben....that is soooo awesome!!!!! CONGRATS on landing your dream job!!!!! Can hardly wait to see what go-fast bottom designs you are gonna come up with for your G3 on the company computers!!! HA! Let me know when ya get that TESLA outboard ready to rumble- guess my only hope is gonna be short range and....no CHARGE port out on the lake! But no worries- my trusty old JOHNSON will be there to give ya a tow!!! But sounds like I wont have to wait long, if that hideous rattlebox of yours is on its its death kneel? At least you have lots of company here, right Peyton? NUT
