After a late start yesterday, finally met up with Greg on the launch ramp about noon. He wanted to try out a 19" prop that he got with his Citation on his G3, and his wife, Cat wanted to get some sun as well. I decided 3 would be a crowd in his G3, so brought my little Sport Lido putt-putt, and my fat beagle Maddy to join the festivities. Shortly after throttling out of the 5 zone, cruising along about 1/2 throttle, enjoying the glasslike water and a cold beer. Out of no where, a pontoon equipped HELICOPTER starts closing in on us, buzzes past us, and decends from the sky. Thinkin, oh crap, hide the beer! its the cops! I figure we will all be spending the night in JAIL! BUT then, I see the lettering on the sponson of the chopper. Its not the police......it says, " BOATPIX.COM" !!! This chopper is photographing the 2 coolest boats on the lake- a 58 Glasspar Sport Lido, and a 59 centerdeck G3 speeding along in tandem, in glasslike conditions!!!!!!!!! The Helicopter hovered low as we sped by, snapping pictures, then got behind and took a few from in back, then came around and got a few more from the front! Thinkin how cool this will be, I was taken aback when I did some research and found out Boatpix has a bad reputation for getting credit card info, no preview, and sending a hefty bill of like, $600.00!!!! Then when you don't pay, they threaten with legal action. As much as I would like to see/have their pics of us, just not worth the headache to me. We continued out to the first shady beach we saw to let the beagle stretch her fat legs, take a swim and have some lunch. But the beach was ROCKY and the mud was like quicksand, sinking in up to the knees! After lunch, we packed up and headed out to my favorite ski cove, about a 20 minute boat ride from where we were. Ski conditions were great, shade on the beach, and no quicksand! HA! Well worth the drive! We ended up staying there till almost sundown, enjoying life. I got a couple ski runs in behind Gregs G3 before my arms gave out. The beagle had enough, too and missed her couch potato duties, so we packed up and headed back to the launch ramp, about 45 minutes away. As the sun set behind the hill, I grabbed my phone and snapped a pic of Greg and Cat cruising back in their G3, with the captain savoring his last Corona of the day!!! EPIC!! Who need them hi priced BOATPIX helicopter ones anyway? HA! NUT
