So speed/race boats have been in my family since I was a baby. Actions, streams, checkmates, etc. (no svt’s we we always chasing him 😂) anyway I stumbled upon this marketplace listing titled “get this off my lawn!” I had never seen a G3 before and figured “hey! This needs to be in my collection!” So backstory.. previous owner did some work to it, then a tree hit the throttle bracket and cracked it.. (see pics) initially I was going to repair the cracks, but after I dug it out after sitting for the past idk 5+ years (1.5 under my ownership) I’m thinking it’s best to split the deck.
Questions..1-general thoughts on me splitting the deck for repair, and best way of going about that. I know it’s riveted, and requires me drilling them out.2-what’s going on with the transom??
Thanks ladies and gents! Glad I found this group! This is a slick little boat I want to breath some life back into!!

It looks like someone did a lot of work on your boat. If the work was well done, then just repair any damage and paint. If it was not well done, look for another boat. A stock boat with no poor repairs is an easy deck off restoration. Send more pictures. Kingston

Thanks for the reply! I'll get some additional pictures, and post them. It appears that the floor has been done, it's extremely solid. The transom seems odd to me, can't seem to find another G3 with that look. The paint looks terrible because I started sanding the horrid paint off. I'll start doing some work and update as I go.

Your transom has been changed a lot. It looks like it has been modified for a long shaft (20") or maybe a 25" motor. Also the splash pan is raised and glassed in. If all is sound you could run it as "rat rod" boat with a big engine and not do and sanding . Kingston

I do have a hot foot, adjustable jack plate, and trim/tilt for the wheel. I planned on running an overpowered motor if my inspections turn out ok. Probably a v4 vairent like a bubble back 135 johns/rude since I have a decent selection of props for those motors. We'll see if it sinks or not.. I feel like I'm going to get roasted by the G3 community, but it's already been "modded" so might as well go with the theme lol..

But... man, something looks verry whack in that first pic, and not talkin about the horrid transom and motowell, but the entire hull and/or deck looks bent, twisted or warped!!! ? I cant quite tell exactly what it is, but something is very wrong in that pic!!!!!! Hurts my head to look at it!! Maybe just more pics, but if its as whacked as I think it is, you better find a better boat to spend your energies on.... Just my 2 cents... does anyone else see what im talkin about here? NUT

Nut is right. If the previous owner did a deck-off restoration, and didn’t have the hull exactly level and square, it’s quite easy to end up with a twisted/distorted hull. Dean
