Hi guys! I'm a new G3 owner and new to the site. I picked up a '71 and in the process of restoring it. I have to totally redo the dash. Looks like swiss cheese. I guess she had lots of mods in her day. LOL. It had a bad after market plexi windshield, which is broken anyway, and missing the Glasspar logos. Is there anyone that has the logos that you know of? Hull and deck are in good shape but I'll repaint.
Thanks!!! Terry

Welcome to the g3 forum Terry. Good luck on your project it will be a lot of fun and work but you will enjoy it all the way. I am not sure where you can get the logo you are looking for but there are a lot of member on this forum that have a lot more knowledge than me I am sure you will get a reply soon. Maybe you should post a new thread here and ask the same question. There is another forum called fl glasspar club that may be of help also. Good luck and please post some photos of your boat so we can all follow your progress.

Sadly I too need a pair for the 60 I have. The 59 has hers but I don't know when I will ever get a chance to work on either one. That said keep me in mind as well Dean. I rather have them so if I get a chance to work on her, or if I have to part with her the new owner will have them.

Do not fear guys... as soon as I get the set from Peyton, I will get them to the casting place ASAP. And my cost will be your cost, I don't plan to make any money on them (I wont lose any either). The sand-casting is very reasonable, it just takes a little sanding and polishing in the end.
So why do you think so many of these things are lost? Do people use the grab handles as cleats? I was lucky enough to have had mine when I bought Bandit as a junker.

Good morning Just noticed your bright work, it really looks good. Was it chromed or re anodized? Just finished removing mine and was headed to the chrome shop for an estimate but if yours is anodized maybe I should rethink the process. Thanks for sharing. Jack

Guys, My $0.02 on the aluminum bright work:
Everyone has their favorite method, and I don't mean to step on any of them... but here is my experience.
Even though no one has mentioned it in this thread... I've just got to say it, never never never clear coat your polished aluminum. You will be sorry after about a year, and facing a lot of work to strip it.
I am a huge fan of Penetrol. After polishing by hand or with a buffer, rub it on with a rag and let it set for a few days. It really keeps the pieces bright and seals the aluminum. Its kind of like working with wood oil. Bandit had this treatment in 2011 and it still looks as bright as the day I did it. Its actually a paint additive, to make it flow better. Go figure. If you skuff your trim, simply take your rag and rub some more over it. An engineer at my old place of employment turned me on to this, he uses it on steel to keep if from rusting. Penetrol is available at your local paint or hardware store. Its about $8 for a quart can.

OH... and also. I've got the grab handle pieces ordered. Should have the castings in my hands in about 3-4 weeks. Now we just have to source the aluminum tubing and figure out how we can put the proper radius bend in it.
I am going to start a new thread to better advertise that I will have them available.

I saw an ad from a Glasspar Owner on E-Bay that was making some replicas of them. Let me see if I can find the link for you. ------- John_P

My alum. Parts was hand sanded with course sand paper and then I worked my way up to fine after I got to 1500 I polished them with a buffing wheel. To keep the shine I will take Deans method and use Penetrol to keep the shine. No clear coat

www.ebay.com/usr/shabestariThis is the guy that did Bandit's 1959 sponson decals. Top notch work. I provided him the artwork. If you use him or anyone else, I can send you the proper 1959 Glasspar logo vector files that they need to do the die cut decals. Be aware that the logo changed in 1960 when they went to the center deck support logo piece... and some guys on Ebay are selling that one. Dean Attachment Deleted

I just looked at his website on EBay and it appears he is selling the later version. At least they look different then what you have on your sponsons.

Yep, you need to send Dave a message and tell him you want the Glasspar logos he sold me, he used my art file to produce them. He's a super guy.
Not many people have a need for the 1959 decal, except us G3 goofs having 1959 and early '60 boats.
He cuts two decals, first you lay down a black one, then a gold one over the top.

Just thought i would give an up date on my g3 I am slow do to having so many other irons in the fire I.have very little time to work on it but I sure do enjoy the time that I do find. I had one coat of paint on it but did not like the way it turned out so I sanded it off and started all over again. It is now ready for paint again but this time I am going to call on a friend with experience with fiberglass painting. My background is in cars and metal fiberglass is a whole deferent ball game. I found that out the hard way. I have spent Aaron lot time on the body work to get it where it think it will look good if I can get the paint right. The 115 Merc that has been totally refreshed top to bottom. I have installed a Bob,s Machine Shop Bigfoot water pickup with a stabilizer plate also a Bob's Jack plate. This may be a little much for this little boat but I have seen more and they have made it work. I guess I could de-turn if I feel it is a little much for me but time will tell on that matter. The prop I am using is one that Dean (Bandit) found for me on ebay and he thinks it will do a good job for my set up. I sent to General propeller in Bradenton Fl and had it reconditioned and they did a great job on it. So the photos will show where I am at this point and hope to have it painted a put back together soon. Thanks to Dean and all the members for there advice.
